¹⁴ May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,^(A) through which^[a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.^(B)

³⁰ The God of our ancestors^(A) raised Jesus from the dead^(B)—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross.^(C)

²⁴ For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.^{(A) 25} What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?

³ “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. ⁴ All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”^(A)

⁸ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.^(A)
